The basic principles of He3 inserts are indicated by the following three steps ...
- Warm the charcoal to release the adsorbed He3 gas which is then condensed by the 1 K POT. The liquid helium-3 collects in the He-3 pot, cooling the sample.
- Lowering the charcoal temperature to 4 K cryopumps the liquid He3 lowering its temperature . The isotope He3 is used instead of He4 because it does not exhibit film creep and a lower pressure can be reached (lower pressure means lower temperature).
- Collect the He3 gas back into the sorb and reuse - over and over and over again.
